BNEWS.ID, Karo, Indonesia – The atmosphere in Pola Tebu Village, Kutabuluh District, Karo Regency, was suddenly in an uproar after residents discovered mysterious footprints suspected to be tiger prints in a farming area. The discovery caused unrest because the field has long been the primary site for local farming activities.

The first incident occurred to a farmer named Andika Kaban (36). While heading to his field in Perjumaan Uruk Kecing on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) at around 12:00 PM WIB, he was startled by suspicious footprints that resembled those of a wild animal. Not wanting to act rashly, he immediately reported the discovery to local residents.

The following day, Wednesday (September 17, 2025) at around 3:00 PM WIB, a similar incident occurred again. This time, Wisnu Saputra Karo-Karo experienced it while he was at Perjumaan Lau Angkat. He also found similar footprints believed to belong to wild animals. These two discoveries in different locations immediately made the community increasingly anxious about the possible presence of tigers around their fields.

Kutabuluh Police Chief, AKP Poltak H. Hutahean, when contacted, confirmed the report from residents regarding the discovery of the footprints. He stated that swift action was taken in coordination with the village government to urge residents to remain cautious.

“After receiving the report, we immediately coordinated with village officials to increase public vigilance. We urge residents to avoid activities in the fields at night to prevent any untoward incidents,” explained AKP Poltak on Friday (September 19, 2025), while inspecting the location.

The police have also submitted this report to the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) to verify the findings. “The BKSDA will immediately follow up on this information, involving other relevant agencies,” he added.

Meanwhile, village officials and residents have been asked to remain calm, not panic, and to report immediately if they find any more tracks or signs of wild animals around their settlements.

The community is still awaiting the results of the authorities’ investigation to determine whether the tracks found are indeed those of a tiger or another animal that crossed the plantation area. (F08)
